Department of Commerce & Management
 

  Introduction:

The Department of Commerce and Management is established in 1990. The courses M.Com., M. Phil. and Ph. D. in Commerce and Management are regularly conducted. The Interdisciplinary School for Regional and Professional Studies comes under the preview of working of the department. At present two chairs, one by United Western Bank and the other by Bank of India are established in the department. The Chair Professors are expected to contribute in terms of research in banking and finance.    M. B. A. Unit is also under the preview of working of the department.(The detailed information about M.B.A. Unit has been disclosed on the university website separately.) The department has conducted about eight Refresher Courses for teachers in Commerce. Two- day workshop for revising syllabus of Commerce subjects is recently arranged. Occasionally, short-term training programmes are also conducted jointly with other agencies like Small Industries Service Institute (SISI), District Industries Centre (DIC).

Admission Procedure       :
Merit on the basis of marks at Degree level is prepared and admission is given as per merit list.

 (Note: The Continuous Internal Evaluation has been introduced from the academic year 2007-08.)
 
M. Phil. :

  • Admission Procedure      :  Admission test - written and oral is conducted and the admission is given as per the performance at admission test.

Ph. D.
  • Eligibility    :  M. Com. with minimum 50% marks and completion of Pre-Ph.D. Course

  • Admission procedure :

  1. Synopsis of the research proposal along with signature of guide is submitted.

  2. The Departmental Research Committee (DRC) in its meeting will first scrutinise the proposal. The candidate and his guide are invited to come before the meeting and make the presentation of the research proposal. After such presentation, the DRC may suggest the modification if necessary. After the scrutiny of the proposal is sent to the Research and Recognition Committee (RRC) of the university.

  3. The RRC scrutinise the proposal and sends it to BUTR for approval. (As per university rules)

  Placement Activities:

 The Department has appointed Mr. S. S. Mahajan as Placement Officer for M. Com. Students. The department conducts various programmes for career guidance, language skill development and computer skill development. The database of studnets' profile is available at university's Placement Cell.
